A SPOOK-TACULAR SERIES OF SUPERNATURAL EVENTS

It’s going to be a Spooky Summer if Blackpool-based Supernatural Events has its way! The "creepy" company has announced its April to October 2008 diary of eerie events that includes the return of Grand Ghost Tours to Blackpool Zoo and visits to two new locations, Blackpool’s NORTH PIER THEATRE and Lytham’s LOWTHER PAVILION.

October and November has seen two new locations in Blackpool join Supernatural Events’ list of haunted venues; Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks and Pleasure Beach Blackpool.

Stephen Mercer who runs Supernatural Events said: “It’s fantastic that these great Blackpool venues have come on board and joined the ever-growing list of reported haunted locations. Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks was amazing, especially for those who attended the tour walking through the Chamber of Horrors. Now that was eerie! At Pleasure Beach Blackpool participants will have the opportunity to investigate the Ghost Train ride and the Arena. That will be exciting.”

Grand Ghost Tours at Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks will take place on Monday 24th November, Wednesday 18th March and Wednesday 22nd April while further down the promenade you can experience Pleasure Beach Blackpool on Wednesdays 21st January, 11th February and 4th March.

January sees the world-famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom added to list of locations. “I can’t wait for people to experience the Ballroom tours,” said Stephen. “To be able to investigate what has reportedly taken place there when the Tower itself is closed will be fantastic! I know that these Grand Ghost Tours will sell-out very quickly as many people who attend the other tours have been asking if they could go into the Ballroom for some time.”

The Grand Ghost Tours at the Tower Ballroom take place on Tuesdays 27th January and 3rd February, Monday 9th March and Tuesday 7th April.

Supernatural Events began its original Grand Ghost Tours at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool in 2006 and they return to investigate the strange happenings in the auditorium and stage areas on Saturday 24th January.

Psychic medium Ian Lawman, star of LivingTV’s Living With The Dead show, and past co-presenter of Most Haunted and I’m Famous and Frightened, will be returning with an Overnight Ghost Walk at Blackpool Zoo, the original site of the Blackpool Municipal Aerodrome which was in operation throughout World War II, on Friday 20th February. Ian has previously been special guest at two previous events held in the Grand Theatre and in the Spanish Hall Suite within the Winter Gardens. Prior to the ghost walk itself Ian will hold psychic workshops on the night for those attending.

Stephen said, “Ian is a fantastic host at these events. Those who attended the two previous Overnight Ghost Walks with Ian Lawman loved every minute of them. He was able to pick up on things that had actually happened in the locations and amazed everyone with his accuracy. Much of what he picked up on was not common knowledge. I know he loves Blackpool and enjoys coming to the town for these events. Ian has already agreed to come back regularly throughout 2009 between filming commitments to lead more of these ghost walks so look out for more details early next year of more tours with him.”

There will also be a Grand Ghost Tour at Blackpool Zoo on Wednesday 29th April, when those attending will have the opportunity to investigate the original hangers, including the elephant house, the control tower and some other haunted areas for themselves!

There will be two Overnight Ghost Investigations in the new season; Saturday 10th January at Blackpool Opera House and Saturday 7th March in the Spanish Hall Suite within the Winter Gardens complex. “Previous overnight investigations have been held at the Grand Theatre, and there will be more of these added soon to the diary of events; but to be able to bring these more in depth investigations to other locations is great.” said Stephen. There will also be a Grand Ghost Tour of the Pavilion Theatre and Empress Ballroom on Wednesday 15th April.

Although Supernatural Events focuses its tours and events on locations within Blackpool, the company has also organised coach trips to other haunted locations outside of the area over the past two years. Previous coach trips have included Derby Gaol, owned by paranormal historian, presenter and author Richard Felix from Most Haunted fame, Lancaster Castle and Pendle Hill. Most recently there have been Grand Ghost Coach Trips to the 14th Century Manor House, Samlesbury Hall, near Preston.

“The first trip to Samlesbury Hall proved so popular that another trip was arranged for 30th January; but it sold out within days of going on sale! I didn’t want to disappoint people who were unable to get tickets, so a further Grand Ghost Coach Trip has been arranged for March… Friday 13th to be exact! It is a great location and our intrepid paranormal investigators will have the opportunity to spend four and a half hours there in the dark!”

There is some sad news though for fans of the ghost tours. Blackpool Illuminations Depot on Rigby Road will soon be closed as will be the site for the new Blackpool & the Fylde College. Two further ghost tours have been arranged for Wednesday 14th January and Friday 6th February.

“The Illuminations Depot is one of the most popular locations and Supernatural Events have organised ghost tours there for just over a year. The tours in January and February could be the last Grand Ghost Tours ever held there. It will be a sad occasion walking out of the depot for the last time in February.” added Stephen
